Russian authorities reported intercepting a large Ukrainian aerial attack overnight on Tuesday, 18 August 2026. Kharkiv regional governor Oleh Syniehubov announced that at least 10 civilians were killed in the bombardment. Initial reports listed eight people injured, with subsequent regional casualty updates reporting up to 18 wounded as emergency personnel searched for survivors under the rubble. Parts of the Kharkiv region remain occupied by Russian forces, with both Kharkiv and Russia's neighboring Belgorod region experiencing frequent strikes.
