Coalition signed in Aragón

Chunta Aragonesista (CHA) and Frente Amplio Aragón agreed to run together in the 29 November general election under the name CHA-Frente Amplio Aragón. The coalition groups CHA with Izquierda Unida, Movimiento Sumar, Partido Verde and Recortes Cero. El Periódico reported that the agreement was signed on Thursday, 15 October, after 23:00. On Friday, 16 October, the partners presented the project in Zaragoza alongside Ada Colau, the Frente Amplio candidate for the presidency of the government and a former mayor of Barcelona, and Emilio Delgado of Más Madrid, who heads the Frente Amplio list in Madrid. Marta Abengochea, coordinator general of IU Aragón, also took part.

Podemos stays outside

Podemos is the only force of the alternative left that is absent from the Aragonese deal. Pueyo announced the agreement on social media and called on the party to join, saying:

“One actor is missing, Podemos, and there we want to say again that they have an outstretched hand from our side”

Asked why Podemos had stayed out, Pueyo said he did not know, and pointed to possible strategies coming from Madrid that differ from one region to another. He described the relationship with Podemos members in Aragón as excellent. According to El Periódico, the Podemos members were due to meet at their headquarters on Friday afternoon to discuss their internal situation. Sources consulted by EL MUNDO in Aragón and Baleares did not rule out that Podemos could still join before the coalitions were registered.

Why CHA joined the list

Pueyo said polls had given CHA a chance of winning a seat on its own, but he argued that Aragonese society wanted unity and a single voice in Madrid, citing José Antonio Labordeta as an example. He said the coalition aims to stand firm against the far right and to make Aragón's voice heard in the Congress of Deputies. Housing and pensions are his top priorities, and he called for a progressive government able to change things. Pueyo rejected the image of Aragón as a region of neglect:

“We are not a territory of oblivion and sacrifice.”

Programme and candidate lists

Pueyo said the programme will have two parts: a state package and an 'Aragonese agenda' of local demands. Those demands include the commuter rail network, the Cantabrian-Mediterranean corridor, road upgrades and a financing model that takes depopulation and terrain into account. CHA will head the Zaragoza list, while the Huesca and Teruel lists are still undefined. Names are to be closed from the week of 19 October, which Pueyo put at about a week and a half. LaSexta noted that CHA doubled its results in the last Aragonese regional election, held in February 2026.

Wider left talks

EL PAÍS lists the Frente Amplio as Izquierda Unida, Comuns, Más Madrid and Movimiento Sumar. Canarias is the clearest case of a deal including Podemos, with Unidad del Pueblo Canario uniting Podemos, Nueva Canaria and IU according to EL PAÍS, while EL MUNDO also names Movimiento Sumar. Asturias (Somos Asturies), Baleares (Ara Más) and Navarra (Batzarre) reached territorial agreements with the Frente Amplio, according to EL PAÍS. EL MUNDO reported that talks in the Comunitat Valenciana would take longer because of problems there, and considered Madrid and Cataluña very difficult. Colau urged Gabriel Rufián of ERC, who has good relations with Podemos, to help bring the parties together. EL PAÍS reports that Podemos is running Irene Montero as its candidate. Coalitions must be registered by 23:59 on Friday, 16 October.
