Como strike first in Rotterdam
Feyenoord beat Como 1907 3-2 at De Kuip in Rotterdam on 14 October 2026, in the second matchday of the Champions League league phase, and recorded their first win in the competition this season. Como took the lead in the 18th minute when Assane Diao, a Senegalese winger, beat his marker, ran clear and finished past goalkeeper Tjark Ernst. Feyenoord replied within two minutes: Gjivai Zechiël shot from outside the box after a pass from Luciano Valente and levelled at 1-1 in the 20th minute. The first half then produced few clear chances, and Diao signalled to the Como bench around the 23rd minute before lying down on the pitch. He was replaced by Rodriguez, and the extent of the problem was still unclear in the reports. Fanpage described it as a muscle problem.
Feyenoord turn it around after the break
Como made no changes at the restart, and Feyenoord regained the lead in the 52nd minute. Gaoussou Diarra, who had replaced captain Luciano Valente in the second half, moved the ball from the left to the right flank, where Givairo Read created room for Anis Hadj Moussa. Hadj Moussa cut inside and finished with a shot into the near post to make it 2-1. Como coach Cesc Fàbregas made three changes in the 60th minute, bringing on Couto, Da Cunha and Douvikas. Douvikas headed over from a good position in the 64th minute, but that chance did not produce a goal for Como.
Disputed third goal and late winner
Feyenoord's third goal came in the 81st minute, and the reports differ on who should be credited with it. ANSA's live text credits an own goal by Como goalkeeper Robert Sánchez, after a shot from Moussa hit the post and rebounded off his back. NOS credits Hadj Moussa, whose shot was first deflected by a defender, then hit the post and crossed the line off the goalkeeper's back. According to NOS, Douvikas scored the 3-2 about thirty seconds after that goal, pulling one back for Como in the closing minutes. il Giornale wrote that Como reacted too late to change the outcome.
Italian press reaction
Fanpage placed the defeat in the context of a difficult week for Italian clubs in the competition, noting that Inter lost 4-3 at home to Bruges and Napoli lost 3-1 at Villarreal. The same outlet argued that Como did not collapse as those sides had, keeping the match alive despite the absence of a recognised centre-forward and Diao's injury. il Giornale noted that Como still had three points in the table, following their earlier win over RB Leipzig, which NOS reported as a 4-1 result in Como's Champions League debut last month. For Feyenoord, NOS pointed out that they had lost 5-1 to Barcelona a month before this match, making this their first win in the competition this season.
