Social sovereigntist pact in Orvieto

Over 300 delegates gathered at the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo in Orvieto for the three-day Forum of Italian Independence. The event marked the formal union between Roberto Vannacci's Futuro Nazionale and Gianni Alemanno's Indipendenza movement under the banner of social sovereigntism. Alternative for Germany Member of the European Parliament Marc Jongen attended the convention as guest of honour, formalizing cooperation between the two nationalist parties. Jongen delivered greetings from AfD co-leader Alice Weidel following the German party's recent regional electoral gains in Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Vannacci confirmed that Futuro Nazionale shares extensive policy overlap and European Parliament group affiliation with AfD, noting plans to attend an AfD event in Germany in the near future. Alemanno urged Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to choose between aligning with the European People's Party or joining the expanding European sovereigntist movement.

Futuro Nazionale will place its symbol on an election ballot for the first time during the upcoming by-elections in Reggio Calabria, fielding Domenico Giannetta. National party coordinator Massimiliano Simoni described the municipal contest as a decisive test for the party's growth beyond national polling figures that currently credit Futuro Nazionale with 8% support. From the Orvieto stage, Vannacci clashed with traditional centre-right leaders, playing a video of commentator Italo Bocchino arguing against cooperation with Futuro Nazionale. Vannacci used the closing sessions to outline the ideological pillars of Futuro Nazionale, rejecting any future technocratic rescue governments in favor of political control over economic decision-making. On education, he supported government plans to prohibit burqas in schools for security reasons while calling for strict limits on the proportion of foreign students in classrooms. Vannacci defended what he termed Mediterranean patriarchy as a framework of familial duty, sacrifice, and loyalty, citing Ulysses and Aeneas as classical models of responsibility. He rejected the legal definition of femicide and opposed Gramscian penal reforms, while arguing that offenders guilty of violence against women should receive maximum prison terms. Responding directly to an anti-fascist picket outside the Orvieto venue, Vannacci insisted that demonstrators would not disrupt the gathering.
