Substitutes secure home victory for Juventus

Juventus earned a 2-0 victory against Parma at Allianz Stadium on Saturday, recording their second consecutive win to open the Serie A season. After a scoreless first half where the hosts struggled to turn possession into goals, manager Luciano Spalletti introduced Nico Gonzalez and Edis Alajbegovic in the 57th minute. Gonzalez made an immediate impact, forcing a save from Parma goalkeeper Edoardo Corvi before breaking the deadlock in the 62nd minute. His initial attempt struck the post, but the winger collected his own rebound and scored through a deflection off Parma defender Mariano Troilo. Teun Koopmeiners entered the match in the 87th minute to replace the injured Andrea Cambiaso and added the second goal one minute later, converting a low left-footed finish after Manuel Locatelli took the ball from Konate.

First-half pressure and defensive resilience

The opening half featured territorial control from Juventus against a defensive setup organised by Parma manager Cuesta. Parma gave a start to defender Drobnic and relied on Bernabe in midfield, limiting Juventus to occasional shots from distance. The best chance of the first half came in the 32nd minute when Francisco Conceicao moved inward from the right flank and hit the outside of the post. Parma produced chances through Ordonez, but Juventus goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario preserved a clean sheet, notably stopping a header from substitute Romero in the second half. Jhon Lucumi, starting in central defence beside Bremer, missed a close-range chance from a corner early in the second half before Spalletti modified his attacking options.

Spalletti addresses midfield depth and transfer needs

Juventus lined up without Kenan Yildiz, Weston McKennie, and the injured Khephren Thuram, while Edon Zhegrova was also not involved. Douglas Luiz started in central midfield alongside Locatelli, but Spalletti stated after the match that squad depth remains an open issue before the transfer window closes. The club had previously negotiated for Franck Kessie before the player completed a move to Atalanta.

League standings and Saturday Serie A results

The victory moves Juventus to six points from their opening two matches, level with AC Milan at the top of the Serie A standings. Juventus had opened their league campaign with an away win at Frosinone and will face AC Milan in Turin in the next round. In other Saturday matches, Frosinone defeated Fiorentina 3-0 with two goals from Antonio Raimondo. Udinese earned a 3-2 away win against Monza with goals from Piotrowski, Kamara, and Ekkelenkamp, while Domenico Berardi scored a 78th-minute winner in Sassuolo's 2-1 victory over Torino. Ten teams in Serie A are scheduled to play their second match week fixtures on Sunday.
