Multiple posts circulating across social networks claimed that the German squad was "not German enough" or "not white enough." The hostile commentary emerged primarily on X following the match in Augsburg, where right-wing circles and Alternative for Germany (AfD) state politicians compared the starting lineup against Greece to DFB squad photographs from the early 2000s, explicitly drawing attention to the skin colors of the current national players. Known right-wing extremist Martin Sellner also published remarks targeting the squad. Klopp dismissed the significance of the commentary, asserting that he refuses to devote mental energy to hateful remarks on digital networks.

“There is no reason to waste thoughts on these people. They will not get my thoughts. In normal life I have little time for stupidity, and none for social media either.”

Klopp reflected on how public expression has altered over time, noting that individuals who wanted to share opinions publicly in the past had to write a letter to the editor. He stated that modern social media allows people to release statements before thinking, describing the instant spread of such messages as irrational.

Team cohesion and locker room standards

Addressing the internal dynamics within the national squad camp, Klopp praised the strong personal harmony among his players, a group that includes multiple members from immigrant backgrounds. The manager stated that the coexistence within the squad could not be better, proposing the culture of athletic locker rooms as an example for the broader world.

“The world could take an example from a sports locker room. Everyone is respected there based on the right facts, and not discredited based on false opinions.”

Klopp emphasized that prejudice is entirely absent within the team, noting that discrimination is not a subject of discussion within any squad or sport. In his view, the organic mutual respect found inside the dressing room offers a clear standard against outside hostility.
