With this milestone, her cabinet became the longest-serving single government in the history of the Italian Republic, surpassing the previous mark of 1,412 days set by the second cabinet of Silvio Berlusconi between 2001 and 2005. Italian flags and party symbols filled the square as supporters gathered for the anniversary event, while a separate counter-demonstration took place elsewhere in the Puglia port city. Meloni told attendees that her administration, the 68th government in Italy's 80-year republican history, drew its strength from maintaining political unity and sustained public backing. She asserted that her coalition enjoyed higher support among Italian voters at this stage of its mandate than on its first day in power.

Stability and foreign standing

Meloni framed political continuity as the foundational reform of her mandate, arguing that constant government turnover in previous decades had weakened Rome's standing during negotiations with international partners. When administrations collapsed frequently, foreign interlocutors routinely questioned the longevity of Italian commitments, putting the country in a position of submitting to choices rather than shaping them. She asserted that sustained domestic stability transformed Italy from Europe's supervised case into a country capable of setting policy directions and defending its strategic interests across international forums.

Stability is the first major reform. Italy has stopped being Europe's hot potato. The challenges cited included economic pressures from elevated fuel prices, youth gang violence, domestic security concerns, and natural disasters such as the fatal Ischia landslide and the Emilia-Romagna floods. Meloni also pointed to geopolitical disruptions, including conflicts across the Middle East and instability in the Strait of Hormuz. She argued that a nation lacking firm leadership would have paid a steep price during these concurrent crises, while acknowledging the personal exhaustion involved in maintaining governing momentum over four years.

During the address, Meloni contrasted her governing coalition with the political opposition, arguing that her parliamentary majority coalesced around shared policy projects rather than an opportunistic effort to defeat rivals. She maintained that unlike alliances that dissolve or stall after electoral victories, her coalition still retains an active legislative to-do list after nearly four years in power. Addressing left-wing opposition parties directly, she noted with irony that their continuous tenure in opposition matched the duration of her administration, wishing them ten thousand more such days. She added that dismantling entrenched power structures required immense determination, affirming that the cabinet remained at peace with its conscience as it pursued its legislative program.
