The Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) predicts a slight temperature rise, particularly in the west, while northern winds will persist in the Aegean, reaching up to 7 Beaufort.

A few clouds, temporarily increased, are expected in the midday-afternoon hours mainly in the northern mainland where some local rains or showers will occur, and in the Dodecanese where temporary local showers or isolated thunderstorms may develop.

Regional details

In Macedonia and Thrace, the day will start clear but will develop some afternoon clouds with local showers or rain, especially in mountainous areas. Western Macedonia will be slightly cooler, with temperatures 3 to 4 degrees lower than the regional highs of 32 to 33°C.

The Ionian Islands, Epirus, western Sterea and western Peloponnese will enjoy a predominantly sunny day. Some temporary clouds may bring local rain or showers to the mountains of Epirus and western Sterea in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures in these mainland areas will reach 34 to 35°C, though inland Epirus will be 3 to 4 degrees cooler.

Thessaly, eastern Sterea, Evia and eastern Peloponnese are expected to remain mostly clear, with only light, temporary clouds over the mountains of Thessaly in the afternoon, where local showers are possible. Winds will blow from the north at 4 to 5 Beaufort, reaching 6 and locally 7 in the east and south.

On the Cyclades and Crete, generally clear skies will prevail, with some light morning cloud over Crete. Northern winds will be particularly strong here, blowing at 5 to 7 Beaufort. Temperatures will be more moderate, between 21 and 28°C, touching 29°C in southern Crete.

In the eastern Aegean islands and the Dodecanese, the weather will be mostly sunny but with a chance of temporary local showers or isolated thunderstorms during the midday and afternoon hours. Winds from the north will reach 4 to 6 Beaufort, locally up to 7. The thermometer will climb to 29 to 30°C, locally 31 to 32°C in the south.

Winds and sea conditions

The dominant feature across the eastern part of the country will be the strong north winds, particularly in the Aegean, where speeds of up to 7 Beaufort are expected. In the west, winds will remain northerly at 3 to 5 Beaufort, with the Ionian Sea seeing local gusts up to 6. In the Macedonia and Thrace region, variable winds of 3 to 4 Beaufort are forecast, while Thessaloniki will initially see light southerly breezes up to 4 Beaufort from midday.

Temperature highlights

After a slight overall rise, maximum temperatures across the country will range from the low 30s in the north and east to the mid-30s in western mainland areas. The highest values are forecast for the west, where the mercury will touch 35°C in some places. The eastern islands will remain cooler, generally between 27 and 32°C.
