Bartłomiej Kubkowski becomes first person to swim across the Baltic Sea, covering over 160 km in 55 hours
Polish ultra-distance swimmer Bartłomiej Kubkowski reached the beach in Dziwnów on Sunday evening after roughly 55 hours in the water, succeeding on his fifth attempt and raising nearly 670,000 złoty for the Cancer Fighters foundation.

Over 30 designated bathing sites along the Polish Baltic coast were closed to swimmers on Saturday 25 July as strong winds whipped up heavy surf. At the same time, all Sopot beaches in Gdańsk Bay reopened after a four-day closure caused by E. coli contamination.
