Italy's fourth heatwave pushes red-alert cities to 25, with 41°C peaks and no relief until 8 August
The health ministry's maximum alert covers 25 of 27 monitored cities on 3 August, with Terni hitting 41°C and Rome nearing 40°C. No significant cooling is expected before 8 August.

Tuscany under orange weather alert as severe thunderstorms forecast; Florence to close parks and cemeteries
Italy's Civil Protection has issued an orange alert for thunderstorms and hydrogeological risk across Tuscany from midnight to 2 p.m. Sunday, while nine other regions face a yellow alert as an Atlantic depression moves across the country.

Florence rail junction reopens after first phase of Ponte al Pino works, new stop from July 26
High-speed and regional services through Florence's Campo di Marte junction resumed at 4 a.m. on July 10 after a week-long interruption to remove the Ponte al Pino overpass. Another closure, from late July 26 to July 30, will allow installation of the new 550-tonne bridge.
