Poland adds official e-delivery mailbox to mObywatel app, replacing paper notices for millions
The Polish government has launched an e-Doręczeń mailbox inside the mObywatel app, letting citizens receive and send official documents directly from their phones, eliminating paper notices and post-office visits.
Poland's flagship digital identity app gained a new function on 12 June: a built-in mailbox for official correspondence. The Ministry of Digital Affairs announced the rollout at a press conference and described it as a significant step in the country's ongoing push toward fully digital public services.
What the new mailbox does
The e-Doręczeń mailbox allows adult users with an active mDowód (digital ID) to handle all formal correspondence with government bodies, local authorities, and even private companies, directly from the mObywatel app. It serves as the electronic equivalent of registered mail with proof of delivery, removing the need for the paper slips left by couriers when recipients are not at home.

How it works in practice
Users can receive administrative decisions, create responses, send their own messages, and attach files. The system tracks delivery status and allows users to download official delivery confirmations. It unifies access to both the standalone e-Doręczeń address and the older ePUAP platform, letting citizens manage both types of official mailboxes from a single app.
Receiving decisions, drafting replies, monitoring delivery deadlines — everything in one place, integrated with state systems and secure. mObywatel users now have not only documents and services in their phones, but also a fully functional mailbox for official correspondence.
Integration and security
The mailbox is integrated with state registers, including the Electronic Address Database (BAE) and the systems of Poczta Polska, ensuring that senders and recipients are verified and that correspondence remains secure. The ministry stressed that data flows directly from official sources, giving the digital mailbox the same legal standing as traditional registered mail.
Recent service hiccup
The launch follows a brief outage earlier in the week. On Monday, 8 June, the Profil Zaufany (Trusted Profile) authentication system experienced disruptions that made logging in and using digital signatures temporarily unavailable. The Ministry of Digital Affairs recommended using mObywatel as an alternative during the incident, and by around 11:30 AM the issue was resolved. The new e-Doręczeń feature was not affected.
