While neither club officially published the financial terms, media reports indicated Barcelona paid a fee of approximately 10 million euros (8.6 million pounds). Jesus arrived in the Catalan capital on Monday for medical examinations and watched Barcelona defeat Rayo Vallecano 5-2 at Camp Nou.

The arrival of Jesus provides Barcelona with a dedicated central attacker after the off-season departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres. Sporting director Deco pursued Jesus in the final hours of the transfer window after Atletico Madrid refused to sell their primary target, Argentine striker Julian Alvarez. Jesus stated that his main ambition with the Spanish club centers on continental success after previous tournament heartbreaks.

The move ends a four-year stay in north London for Jesus, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022. During his time with Arsenal, he recorded 32 goals in 123 appearances across all competitions. After suffering an anterior cruciate ligament tear in his left knee in January 2025, which contributed to 79 missed matches and 519 days sidelined over his Arsenal tenure, he returned last season to play 27 league games and score six goals as Arsenal ended a 22-year title drought. He faced reduced playing time behind Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres.
